Historic Databases

Here are some lists of people who were in the news. Naturally, this is not a definitive database! By the nature of their activity it is quite likely they afforded certain media coverage. It’s important to remember that it wasn’t only criminals (or the accused) who were in the news. Victims were also featured as well as a great number of those involved in a range of activity from business to divorce, from sport to probate. The range is endless.See also the ‘Historic Databases’ drop-down menu at the top of this page for links to my current online free archive.

The full use of this website and my growing online viewable data is available free of charge. Initial research enquiries from you is a free service and without obligation to purchase copies of any news articles whatsoever.

Please remember: If you cannot see the item you are looking for on this website please make contact as I am able to trace news items across a broad range of resources. If the item you are searching had an international interest or happened within the old British Empire and outside the British Isles it is likely that certain news coverage will be available

If you can find the name you are searching in my databases please make contact here and I will see which old newspaper articles are available. If you cannot find the person you are searching on my databases here don’t worry as my data only covers a small number, so please enquire anyway and I will get back to you.

Your enquiry is free of charge and without obligation to purchase copies of news articles. All I require from you is some basic research information to enable me to identify any available news stories related to your current research. If I find any news articles I will email you just once and if you are interested let you know what is available along with the cost of copies. Basically I identify specific stories and can supply them to you electronically by email.

The best way to see the past is to look inside the news. I can search British local, national and international news items published in UK national, regional and local newspapers between the 1750’s to the early 20th century.
